“The future depends on what we do in the present.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

The future depends on what we do in the present. – Mahatma Gandhi

I love this quote.

It reminds me that at this moment, where we are right now, everything we have or don’t have in our life right now, is a result of everything we have thought and everything we have done ~ before this very moment.

It also reminds me that what I do in this very moment will affect my tomorrow.

So, that begs the question…

If you know what you want your tomorrow ~ or your three years from tomorrow ~ to essentially look like, what do you need to do TODAY to help bring that into being?

Until next time…

  1. I’m now curled up watching a movie (“Under the Tuscan Sun” ~ one of my favorites) & there’s a scene in the movie that made me reflect further on my post…

It’s where Cathy (crazy blonde) is playing “Sylvia” in the fountain, then she & Frances are back in Cathy’s apartment. They are reflecting on times gone by, people gone by, roles gone by…

…& it made me think about how much time we spend in the past & in the future ~ & comparatively little in the present.

We worry about what’s to come ~ will we have enough money, will we be happy, will our children grow up happy & healthy…

We relive the past, thinking of loves lost, money squandered, times gone by ~ good and bad…

…& every moment we spend thinking about the past or future, we miss the magic of the present!

  2. Living in the present is not that easy. You can’t help recalling memories and anyway you need them to plan your future for the best. Then it’s the planning and the expaectation that give you the energy to live right now. Blessed both past and future be ! thank you for posting this information.
